Someone’s Been Grocery Shopping

I love Mondays- I realise I’ve said it many times before, but Mondays just rock okay.

Especially when I had such a great weekend, if you missed it check it out below:

After one of my favourite BodyStep classes this morning, where I played Easter Bunny…

I did some perusing round the grocery stores and I managed to pick up a few special items.

Finally got a new packet of Chia seeds

and something I’ve never bought or used before…Rice Malt Syrup.

PureHarvest Organic Brown Rice Syrup found in the Coles health aisle is regarded as a healthy sweetener made from organic brown rice. Therefore making it a derivative of a complex carbohydrate with a lower GI than normal sugar, and full of the good stuff brown rice gets too ;) It also means you won’t get that sugar spike and in my case the sugar rush of addiction afterwards. It is naturally produced with no added sugar, preservatives or additives. (After perusing the PureHarvest website I’ve found that they also make organic raw honey and I’m very impressed, check it out!)
After dipping my finger it has a similar consistency and taste to sugar, albeit a little less dominant in flavour. I can’t wait to start using it in baking and recipes!
Oh and look what came today…

I’m off to try and be semi-productive and fill a BodyStep class tonight!

  1. Hehe I don’t think I’ve ever tried rice malt syrup! :P And my favourite day is Saturday :D

I might check out that Rice Malt Syrup – I used maple syrup in an oats/protein powder/peanut butter bar recipe today with mixed results.

Thank you for my Wow giveaway package as well! The caramel chews are divine.

    Enjoy your new shoes.

Yes definitely- it was really cheap too considering. Mixed results? How so? Maple Syrup is delicious, especially paired with pb and dates ;)
No problem- I’m glad it finally reached you. I know- they’re my fave!
Thanks, I did enjoy showing them off today ;) xx

Mixed results as in I tried to adapt the Fitnessista’s peanut butter cup Amazeballs by using protein powder, oats, maple syrup and peanut butter only. Very wet and gooey and did not fuse together. Also OD’d on the maple syrup and it’s sickly sweet! Next time I think I’ll try adding cocoa powder and not adding water to the Amazeballs adaption.

I agree dates are absolutely delicious! If only they weren’t so expensive.

The caramel chews are really delicious! Which is not a good thing as I may now be forced to seek some out…

Glad you’re enjoying your new shoes!

Damn, maybe you needed more oats or you could have freezed it till it hardened by putting the mixture in cling wrap and then just popping it in.
Haha it is strong- especially if you’ve been brought up on the maple flavoured fake syrup. Good idea!
Haha, you can get homebrand ones but they use oil for longevity- I can’t find any oil-less or preservative free dates anywhere. Dried dates I mean.
Haha! I think Woolies or Coles may stock certain products- I’ll keep an eye out for you.
I am enjoying them but they gave me cramps as I’m wearing them in so to speak.

  3. I love rice malt syrup, it’s fantastic in muffins and I use it in bread baking! As for my favourite day of the week, that would probably have to be Saturday. It’s time to sleep in, although I rarely do.

I was thinking about using it in baked goods for less of that sugar rush (I cannot deal with it ha!). Haha- I think it’s the fact that you CAN sleep in that makes it so good, even if you don’t ;)

  4. Rice Malt syrup? Haha, never heard of it til now! My favorite day is…Friday night. Does that count? ;)

    • BekatCrave says:

You should try it! It’s quite affordable for a natural organic sweetener with good health benefits. Haha sure it does- why is Friday night so good?
