The Start of My Love Story

I’m pretty lucky you know- I get to spend Valentine’s Day with two of the loves of my life-

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day I thought I’d also recap all the Love-ified posts I’ve done this week (cue mushy music):

Valentine’s Day has also reminded me of my disastrous and shameful craft skills. Seriously, I am so uncreative and the worst at anything art or craft related. My point was proven when putting together a seemingly simple craft-type gift for the boyfriend. Only for it to end up looking like a complete mess.

It’s the thought that counts right? I also thought it’d make for plenty of laughs and a fantastic memory down the track…remember that time you made me that horribly tacky Valentine’s present…

My Love Story

In the spirit of love and Valentine’s Day I thought I’d also share with you how the relationship between Simon and I started.

We both went to the same high school and only really spoke for the first time in our final year (grade 12). At a party we chatted but in all honesty my attention was elsewhere. It wasn’t until a later party that we got close. And from there, we just got closer and closer.

Constant texts, chatting on IM (instant messenger) and pretty much talking non-stop…except when seeing each other at school. It was your typical awkward high school relationship- neither of us having had one in the school context before. I can still remember being so nervous to go on a date to the movies with him- sometimes I’d even make excuses to get out of it haha.

Fortunately things got better and we became more comfortable with each other.  Really from there the rest if history. We’ve had ups and downs, with only one big blow happening when he was getting to boiling point with my eating disorder. It was literally controlling and ruining everything.

That for me was a big turning point to change. (But this story is not about that.) From there we became stronger and he was basically spending all his time at my house (his parents retired and he moved in at a friends), so eventually he moved in with us. He’s been living with us for ahhh one or is it two years now? And we’ve been dating for 3 years and 8 months so far. We’ve live in each others pockets and not only is he my boyfriend but one of my best friends. Mum also feels like she’s got a second son! Haha.

I’m seriously the luckiest girl ever! He IS so good to me, loves me unconditionally and is always there when I need him. We’ve had amazing moments and share incredible memories. I’m glad I’ve found that someone whom I can have fun with when exploring the world or doing something super exciting, as well as loving every minute when we’re just vegging out and watching Jersey Shore.

That’s my love story.

Okay, so are we all loved-out. Too mushy? Haha, lucky for me Valentine’s Day is probably the only day I’d get away with it ;)

I have to leave with one more bit of mushiness- a big sharing of love for all my readers out there; whatever that means for you- chocolates, someone, something, somewhere, chocolates (not an error repeating twice haha).

  • What’s your love story?

Thanks for sharing your love story, so adorable! My boyfriend and I met our first day of university and became best friends…we didn’t date until 3 years later, then after a year of being together we split up for over 3 years! It was kind of fate that we reunited and we’ve been back together ever since :)

I can’t believe I forgot to add in that he first asked me out at an ice rink too! Aww, that’s so cute! I love stories when people break apart but end up back together, you know it’s meant to be! But I wouldn’t want to break away from Simon at the moment.

In the spirit of sharing, I can tell you a couple of things.

I am a lot older than you and I do mean a lot.

I love chocolate and I did not think it was a typo when I saw it twice ;)

My love story is too long (we’ve been married for 25 years) but I can tell you that the first day we met, I was walking on the sidewalk in front of his house with a friend. She was really short and he thought we were kids. Turns out I am 8 months older than him.

I decided to show off in front of him so I went home and got my dad’s car. Drove by twice and then my girlfriend dared me to introduce myself. Drove by a third time and with her side towards his house I called him over…I can still see my girlfriend hiding below the glove compartment. She actually fit perfectly, lol.

    The rest, is history.
Enjoy your boyfriend and your healthy life. We only live once.
