2013 Baking List

Okay, so it’s still the first week in January so that means it’s still totally acceptable to be posting goals and resolutions for 2013 right? Of course! However, different from my 2013 resolutions and goals made the other day this one has a flair to it. A sweet, delicious, soft, fluffy, perhaps healthy at times, chocolate-y (blah blah blah) flair. A baking flair to be precise.

I can’t tell you how many recipes I’ve seen on pinterest, in magazines, online and from friends that I’ve copied, saved, typed and bookmarked but never bothered to actually make them. The biggest offender? Baking recipes. It just so happens to be one of the funnest, tastiest and kindest (sharing is caring) forms of cooking you could do. Once again I’m going to make myself accountable. What better way than to blast it all over the web. Here you have my 2013 Baking Goals (open to further adjustments and additions).

2013 Baking Goals/List

1. Ginger nuts.

I’ve always had a love affair with these biscuits as a young child and it slowly turned into a love-hate relationship when I realised how shocking they were for you, yet they still had the guts to maintain their addictive-ness. Only requirement: They must be hard. Ginger nuts are hard biscuits!

2. Hot Cross Buns. <–Done. See it here.

1 a penny, 2 a penny…or not.

So it’s probably been 2 or 3 years now that I’ve said I’d make these for easter. But ahhh, never happened. I. Must. Do. It. But only at Easter Time, it’s sacrilegious otherwise.

3. Bread!

I’d love to make my own raisin bread, wholemeal/grain bread or any bread for that matter. Nothing like freshly baked bread mmm. Though I was a little discouraged when my boyfriend mentioned how bloomin’ difficult it was. But then I was a genius and came up with the idea of using a bread-maker…and then I was humbled when he mentioned we don’t own one. Maybe I should pop that on the appliance list behind a Vitamix ;)

4. Gingerbread with sugar icing.

I think these are German or Dutch (help!?) but I know these are delicious. I haven’t had one in forever and the other day the bf and I were reminiscing about these bad boys. Must make and must devour.

5. A slice! <– Done! No-Bake Date Slice

I haven’t made one in forever. I’m not sure whether I want it to be decadent, simple, healthy, sweet, chocolate-y etc. I think I’ll just wait for the inspiration to hit and then go from there. But from looking at that picture..I’m thinking peanut butter is a definite.

6. Blondies. <– Done! Fudgey Blondies

I’ve had dreams about these beauties. At an old favourite restaurant we went to they served white chocolate and macadamia slice, which reminded me so much of a white chocolate version of a brownie. Which just so happens to have it’s very own name- a Blondie!

7. Baked Oatmeal.

I like oatmeal, baking and use oatmeal when making my protein slices. It’s a wonder I haven’t tried this yet!

8. Churros. <– Attempt 1: Failed. Attempt 2: ?

This is more for him than it is for me. I’ve never been a big fan of churros, but the boyfriend loves getting them as a novelty treat. I reckon they’d be just as fun to make as they are to eat.

Ahhh I can’t wait to eat bake these!

What is on your ‘To Bake’ list?

Daily Healthy Thought: I am happy with myself.

  1. I’ve been meaning to try making hot cross buns for years now, and baked oatmeal sounds like fun too. I love your idea of a “To Bake” list — like a food bucket list!

Confession: I have a 65 page word document dedicated to recipes that I have made maybe one thing off of. Phew, I feel much better. thanks for letting me get that off my chest! haha these all look delicious! please make them so I can live vicariously through your pictures and descriptions of their deliciousness!

  3. Having a “to bake” list is such a fun idea! That slice sounds intruiging … and yes, the iced Gingerbread is German – we call them “Pfeffernüsse” :) .

OH my god! That’d be way too intimidating for me to tackle haha. Okay okay! I will and if I share recipes, that means you’re obliged to also make them ;)

Me too! They are so good. I haven’t literally had one in years! Haha, exactly :)

  10. I don’t know that I’ve ever had one! Nobody sells them in the town I live in, and I haven’t seen them in very many stores in the surrounding areas either.

  11. xoxbekxox says:

Really? You’re missing out. I remember having them as a kid with butter/margarine or honey. Oh really, not woolworths or coles? Wait are you Australia based? As Easter gets closer they usually release them as a ‘novelty’ seasonal food.

  12. No, I’m in the northern hemisphere — the US, to be exact! We get peeps and chocolate eggs around Easter, no hot cross buns… I guess our breakfast equivalent would be the sugary cinnamon roll though.

Yes I did and it was exhausting and stressful. I didn’t do the paid for transfer ($130) but sometimes I wish I did. I lost ALL my subscribers and was heartbroken. Oh well. I’m with Bluehost and still using Worpress. It takes a while to get use to it but so far I’m enjoying it! I had to change my theme also and that was sort of stressing me out haha. It depends if you’re willing to pay a bit extra ya know and make a sacrifice. I think it’ll be better in the long run though. You’ve also got more responsibility now so I have to make sure everything is running smoothly haha.
