A Different Kind Of Grill’d

Black, white and red sleek design, funky furniture of leather and wood, stylish plates and bowls- you’d think you would have just walked into an upper market, trendy cafe in the Valley or Eagle St Pier. Nup, actually you’re downstairs at Westfield Carindale in the new redesigned and yuppy food court.. inside a Grill’d nonetheless!

I know, I couldn’t believe it either. The bf and I have always been fans of Grill’d delicious and healthy burgers, and I know you’re probably sick of seeing the name pop up all over the blog. But this time, things are different. I’ve never seen a Grill’d quite like this one. It’s like a whole different restaurant from the one we usually go to. It’s new, obviously, and whilst its’ usual clientele is still very much evident-it also attracts a new set of customers.

Originally, I wasn’t going to get a burger for lunch and just grab something lighter in the upstairs food court; but then I saw it. Two new salads! And these sounded amazing. They were different from your typical salad and sounded so delicious, and not to mention healthy! I mean what more could I want?

In true boyfriend fashion the bf ordered his usual Simply Grill’d burger.

I had a bite of it and I don’t know if it was the atmosphere or the stylish plates but that meat tasted juicier than ever. The bf deemed it perfect, apart from the slightly too crunchy Panini bread- food snob right? Ha! Oh and don’t mind the plate illusion- the burger was a very decent size, but the plates are obviously designed to have chips placed to the side.

For me it was a toss up between two salads. In the end I definitely made a great decision when I chose the Mixed Vegetables and Dukkah Salad.

In my bowl was a delicious selection of mesculin, cherry tomatoes, roasted sweet potato, pumpkin, eggplant and zucchini, as well as black and white quinoa, feta, balsamic dressing and dukkah. Saaaaaa good! I love me some delicious vegetables and this bowl was full of them.

I wish Carindale was closer to home because it would definitely be our Grill’d of choice from now on.

Do you prefer vegetables as the main attraction or the side addition in a dish? For me, I’d say main attraction. I love my vego meals!
